The Art of Choosing Art
Not sure where to start? You're not alone. These 5 tips will turn that blank wall into your favourite spot in the house.
Scale it up, not down
Most people go too small. Aim for artwork that fills at least two-thirds the width of the furniture below it, so it feels like it belongs on the wall.
Let the room lead
Look at what's already there - the rug, the cushions, that lamp you love. Art doesn't need to match, but it should feel like it's in conversation with the room.
Group in odd numbers
Three prints will always look more intentional than two or four. Odd numbers create a natural focal point and keep a gallery wall from feeling too stiff. Prefer a standout piece over a gallery wall? Go big and let it own the wall.
Hang it lower than you think
Aim for roughly 145-150cm from the floor to the centre of the piece - true eye level, not the middle of the wall. Hanging above a bed or sofa? Leave approx 15-20cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame.
Trust the piece that stops you
If you keep coming back to the same print, that's the one. A bit of personality is what makes a room feel like yours, not a showroom.
