After close to 20 years running a successful graphic design studio in Richmond VIC, Matt and I decided back in 2011 that we wanted a big change and a move away from multinational clients, staff payroll and commercial agents & landlords.

We created our first range of greeting cards featuring meticulously restored retro images back in 2012 and found great success selling them through our own retail venture and to wholesale customers located across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2014 we added a range of prints to our collection. It's funny when you look back at things but I remember being so proud of our efforts when we hung all 14 (!!!) designs on a wall in our Red Hill shop. Since then we have expanded considerably and we now offer a rapidly growing range of top quality giclée prints in a variety of sizes with framing and canvas options.

Linen tea towels were added later in 2014 and there's something really lovely about a) printing tea towels right here in Australia on a quality linen fabric when there are so many cheap and nasty imports and b) even though I complain I actually really enjoy sitting and folding a few thousand tea towels several times a year. There's something quite soothing about working with material ...

We introduced a range of pure linen cushion covers in August 2021 and a recyclable, eco-friendly jigsaw puzzle collection in September 2021. As always these new collections are manufactured right here in Australia.

Our core business is all about restoring and reproducing vintage images so that people from all walks of life can enjoy these wonderful designs in their own homes.

We're very proud that our images are painstakingly restored by us in our private studio and then printed - whether it be on art paper, jigsaw board, canvas or fabric - and framed by small-business suppliers who are as pedantic about quality as we are.

So that's us! We're excited to share our collection with you and welcome you to Retro Print Merchants.

Cheers for now.

Note: We closed our Red Hill shop late 2019 and changed our name in July 2020. For several years we were known as La Brocante - rest assured it's the same people behind the scenes and the same trusted quality. .
