Cappiello at his best. A carefully restored version of one of Leonetto Cappiello's most famous posters. Designed in 1921 this vintage poster shows a man in a turban floating above a beautifully decorated cup of Turkish coffee and holding a coffee pot and boxes of coffee.
This image was used repeatedly by Café Eugene Martin in various formats. At the time, anyone in a turban was referred to as a “Turk,” resulting in Café Martin being commonly known as “the Turk in the cup". The poster also features a caption that reads ‘Eviter les Contrefaçons’ which translates as “Avoid Fakes”.
Born in Italy, Cappiello spent most of his adult life in Paris where he became one of the most successful poster artists of all time. He is now often called ‘the father of modern advertising’ because of his innovation in poster design.
Available as an archival quality reproduction in 9 standard metric sizes in the following formats: an unframed print; a framed print; a stretched canvas; a canvas floating frame. Frames are available in white, natural oak, chocolate oak and black sustainable timber.
