ABOUT THE ART
Titled "A Decadent Young Woman - After The Ball" this stunning oil painting was created in 1899 by Spanish artist Ramón Casas i Carbó (1866-1932) and now resides in the Museum of Montserrat in the Caribbean.
Casas was known as a portraitist, sketching and painting the intellectual, economic, and political elite of Barcelona, Paris, Madrid and beyond. He was also known for his paintings of crowd scenes and, as graphic designer, his posters and postcards helped to define the Catalan art movement known as Modernisme.
He was an intuitive entrepreneur, co-founding a magazine while still in his teens and holding many exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Chicago. In 1897 he largely financed "Els Quatre Gats" in Barcelona, a bar modelled on "Le Chat Noir" in Paris. The bar hosted artistic social gatherings and revolving art exhibits including one of the first one-man shows by Pablo Picasso.
His model for "A Decadent Young Woman" was Madeleine de Boisguillaume (1873-1944). To help make a living beyond her trade as a seamstress, Boisguillaume started to model for Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and was soon posing for many other artists including Casas. She appeared in many of his paintings, most famously in "Madeleine" (1892), which shows her sitting at a table in the bar Le Moulin de la Galette in Montmartre, which many artists frequented, with a tired and melancholy look.

No. The watermark you see on product images online is there only to protect our restored and original artwork from being copied.
Unframed Print Sizes
The print size in the dropdown menu is the actual size of the paper print.
All prints include an off-white border on all 4 sides between the image and the edge of the paper - it looks fabulous and mimics a mat board without the expense.
If you prefer no border and would like the image to bleed to the edge of the paper, let us know in the Notes section at checkout.
