Retro surf poster print of the classic surf car the 1968 Chrysler Plymouth Road Runner by Mornington Peninsula art director and surfer Tony Leishman.
Jack Smith was head designer at Chrysler in the 60's and was instrumental in this iconic classic and it's striking sharp look. The Road Runner was a high-performance car and named after the famed Warner Brothers animated cartoon bird. Bob Anderson, executive vice president of marketing for Chrysler, wanted a car to compete with the popular Ford Mustang. Chrysler secured the rights to use the Road Runner character from Warner Brothers for $50,000. Another $10,000 was spent to create the iconic Plymouth car horn that goes “Beep Beep.”
Tony has been surfing for many years and has created a range of vintage surfing prints covering many of Australia’s best-known surf destinations.
